Global toy giant, Zuru, expanded its U.S. headquarters in Los Angeles, driven by its visionary commitment for creativity and innovation. With a daily production of over 600,000 toys distributed worldwide, Zuru aimed to reflect its ethos in the workplace for a new generation. The design concept centers on Connection, activated by a pedestrian sky bridge, interconnecting staircase, and a campus near major transportation hub LAX and along the Metro Line. 

The interconnecting staircase not only links floors but serves as a communal space fostering spontaneous interactions and doubles as a visitor waiting area. Technology, brought to life through a large media screen, welcomes guests and enhances an immersive experience within the open, two-story wooden-clad structure. Natural elements and innovative media technology balance form and function, reinforcing Zuru’s dedication to innovation. 

The versatile dining area, adjacent to a high-end chef’s kitchen, prioritizes employee well-being. Various workspaces, game rooms, lounges, and huddle rooms, challenge traditional perceptions of toy companies and support the company’s innovative energy. The design team seamlessly integrated office strategies with showroom concepts to create hybrid spaces fostering collaboration, inspiration, and connection. 

In addressing these challenges, the design team crafted a workspace that goes beyond conventional expectations for a toy company, embodying Zuru’s commitment to innovation and challenging preconceptions about the culture of toy companies. The end result is an expansive, interconnected, and inviting office space that reflects Zuru’s forward-thinking ethos. 

The strategic build-out of the Zuru campus near LAX and along the Metro Line serves as a crucial link connecting it seamlessly to the global market. Doing this enhances Zuru’s efficiency, enabling swift action of ideas and goods. This connectivity not only facilitates streamlined operations, but also positions Zuru at the forefront of innovation, fostering a robust relationship to the world beyond L.A.
